Description
The historic Gilpin House, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Gideon Gilpin was a prosperous Pennsylvania Quaker farmer at the time of the American Revolutionary War. During the Battle of the Brandywine, Sept., 11, 1777, his home was appropriated by the Continental Army for use as a field headquarters for the Marque de Lafayette, who was second in command to General George Washington. The home looks today much as it did at the time of the battle. This image also available in monochrome. Social media sharing always appreciated.
