Description
The USS Olympia, launched in 1895, became famous as the flagship of Commodore George Dewey at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War,1898 (his campaign there sunk the entire Spanish fleet). The Olympia also served in WWI escorting transport ships and patrolling the American coast. The Olympia was decommissioned in 1922 and is now a museum ship docked in Philadelphia, Pa. She is the oldest steel US warship still afloat.
