Description
A statue of "The Thinker," by Auguste Rodin, outside the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Mo. Originally created in Paris, France (1880), in a much smaller plaster version as part of a doorway surround along with other figures in relation to Dante's Divine Comedy, the statue has come to represent deep thought or philosophy. Rodin later decided to scale the image up and present it in bronze around 1904. There are some 28 "Thinker" statues around the world, most in museums and public places.
