Description
Evening view of the historic Catron Block building on the old town plaza of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Built in 1891 by prominent lawyer and politician, Thomas Benton Catron, the building is Italianate in style (also known as the railroad commercial style). It was built at a time when traditional adobe structures were losing favor in business districts). Santa Fe was founded in 1610 as the capital of Nuevo México which makes it the oldest state capital in the United States and also the highest with an elevation of 7,199 feet.
